Elon Musk made an announcement about the new changes coming to X, F.K.A. Twitter on Friday, including the elimination of the ‘block’ feature, the problem with this change is that it would be risking

Adding to the huge changes that have been happening progressively, this is also a bold move, according to Musk’s announcement, “Block is going to be deleted as a ‘feature,’ except for DMs,”, this comes at a time when the billionaire can do whatever he wants with his company, however, Apple and Google have strict guidelines that may not match Elon’s plans.

Elon Musk has not given a reason for the removal of the Block option

“Apps with user-generated content present particular challenges, ranging from intellectual property infringement to anonymous bullying. To prevent abuse, apps with user-generated content or social networking services must include … the ability to block abusive users from the service.”

Now Google has a similar approach to user control account interactions and permissions “Apps that contain or feature UGC, including apps which are specialized browsers or clients to direct users to a UGC platform, must implement robust, effective, and ongoing UGC moderation that … provides an in-app system for blocking UGC and users.”

However, this is not the first time that Apple and Google have had special treatment for the now-defunct blue bird as they also have specific guidelines about naming apps, specifically about the number of letters that have to be used to call each app.

At this point, Musk has not revealed what is the reason behind the intention to remove blocking permits from users, however, some claim that if he goes forward with this without considering the user’s opinions, it would contradict what he promised which is that “there will be a vote for all major policy changes moving forward.”
